Kenneth Prichett Jr

Hi, my name is Kenneth and welcome to my personal website. I repented and was baptized into Jesus Christ in October 2013, and since then I've been studying God's Word and trying to seek out God's will for me in this life. I put everything I have been learning on this website and I welcome any and everyone to critique what I have studied in God's Word and contact me to correct any errors that you may find.

My Beliefs

Here are a list of my personal beliefs, all of them backed with Scripture (I use the KJV). I encourage you to read through them before reading through the Bible Studies and Parables section. I would like to be as transparent as I can so I am openly sharing My Testimony for those who would like to know how I came to Christ. 1st John 4:1 says to test every spirit to determine whether or not they are from God because there are many false prophets out there. So I welcome you to put me to the test because I have no desire to deceive anyone. I only wish to understand the Bible as accurately as possible so that I can do my best to live by faith.

Matthew 16:15-17

"He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but My Father which is in heaven."

I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the one true living God. I believe that we are to honor Him like we honor God the Father. I believe that He was born of a virgin and lived on the Earth for 33 years. I believe that He was crucified, was resurrected three days later, and has ascended into heaven. And I believe that God Himself revealed this to me the same way He revealed it to Peter; through His Son.

Matthew 16:18

"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

Acts 2:41, 47

"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls....And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."

1st Corinthians 1:21

"For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe."

I believe that Jesus came to Earth and started one church. I believe that the people who believe that Jesus is the Son of God and have been baptized in His name are the people who have been added to His church, regardless of what denomination they may be associated with. I believe that all of the denonminations out there are just congregations of people with differing opinions (because there is only one church) and that those denominations are all united under the same belief; that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that for that reason every one of those denominations is a 'church of Christ' because each one worships Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I believe that God accepts every denomination even though there may be flaws in their doctrine, because I believe He is pleased to save those who believe in Him, even if the way they were taught may not have been 100% accurate.

John 1:1

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

I believe that if anyone wants to know about God, all they would have to do is read the Bible.

Hebrews 11:3

"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

I believe that the world was created by the Bible and not the other way around. I believe man had nothing to do with what books are in the Biblical canon even though they might think that they did.

James 1:5

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."

2nd Timothy 2:15

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

I believe that God doesn't keep a proper understanding of the Word from those who are earnestly seeking Him, neither does anyone need a degree in theology in order to understand the Bible. I believe He gives wisdom to anyone who earnestly asks for it and is willing to put in the time to study the Word and seek out the truth for themselves.

Acts 2:37-38

"Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Acts 10:47-48

"Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days."

I believe that water baptism is an essential step in obtaining salvation. I believe that without this step that person has not been saved.

1st Peter 1:23-25

"Being born again , not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth , and the flower thereof falleth away : But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you."

I believe that the Bible isn't just a history book. It endures forever. I believe that the New Testament is addressed to every Christian who has ever lived, is living, and will ever live. I believe that God is not bound by time and a majority of the New Testament applies specifically to me even though it was spoken thousands of years ago, because I am a Christian.

John 4:24

"God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."

I believe that God commands Christians to worship Him with the abilities that He gave us (spirit) and in all sincerity of heart (truth). I believe that God is not going to send people to hell for worshipping Him with musical instruments, because spirit and truth is the commandment, not with or without instruments.

1st John 3:1

"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not."

I believe that the world doesn't perceive me the same way I perceive myself. I believe that the only people who know me as I know myself are fellow believers in Christ.

Colossians 3:1-4

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory."

I believe that I am risen with Christ through water baptism, and because I am risen with Christ my life is hidden with Him. I believe that I am not waiting on Christ to return, but I am waiting on Christ to be revealed.

John 9:41

"Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth."

2nd Corinthians 5:7

"For we walk by faith, not by sight."

I believe that God has blinded me from seeing the truth and that living according to this knowledge is how every Christian walks by faith.

John 6:29

"Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him whom He hath sent."

John 14:12

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."

Ephesians 2:10

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

I believe that miracles happen all the time and that God does them through believers in Christ. I believe that because Christians have been blinded from this truth, we don't see these miracles taking place. I believe that the unseen miracles is what every Christian is made to do.

1st Corinthians 14:1

"Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy."

1st Corinthians 14:37-38

"If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant."

2nd Timothy 3:5

"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."

I believe that spiritual gifts are still with us to this day and that God commands us to desire them. I believe that many choose to remain ignorant of the existence of spiritual gifts and are missing out on a very special relationship with God. I believe that God commands Christians to avoid people who don't believe Christians have spiritual gifts.

Romans 6:3-4

"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death?  Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."

Hebrews 9:27

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:"

I believe that the judgment begins at death and because I have been baptized I have already entered into the judgment.

John 8:51

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death."

John 11:25-26

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:  And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"

I believe that because I have been baptized into the death that Christ died on the cross, I will never experience death.

Beliefs

My testimony

Testimony

I was born on a military base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. From birth I was brought up in the church of Christ denomination. I moved from place to place as a child until my dad retired from the military in Jacksonville, FL. I was never any good at making friends and that didn't change in my high schools years. The only friends that I had were the ones at the church of Christ that I attended. I was immature at that time. I never really took to heart what was being preached. I was too busy trying to fit in with my church peers. In my attempt to do that I never really developed a relationship with God. By the time I was old enough to do what I wanted I had no desire to continue going to church.

I joined the Navy in 2005 and stopped going to church, hoping to meet a nice girl, fall in love, and make my own way in life. And I had succeeded in doing that, until I went out my first deployment. I left on a 6 month deployment planning on getting married when I got back, but by the end of the deployment she had broken up with me. From that point things went downhill. I tried to work things out with my ex-gf but ultimately it was a failure. I started seeing other women, with no real interest in being in a relationship. Meanwhile, I started to care less and less about my job, feeling more and more like a bystander than a real contribution to the people I worked with.

A few years later, 2010, I had finished my time on the ship and was transferred to shore duty. By this time I was addicted to cigarettes and drinking. I had no love interest. No friends. No one I really felt any connection to. God wasn't even a thought on my mind. While at shore duty I grew more and more depressed. I was sent away to work on Security force teams because it was obvious I was a burden to the people I was working with. I began using drugs and stopped working out.

While I was going through this God reached out to me. I was moving a bookshelf when some books fell out of it. One of the books was the Bible. I picked it up and the very first thing I saw was this passage of Scripture.

Psalms 38:3-11

"There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness. I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh. I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart. Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee. My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me. My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off."

I was very moved by the verses, because it was describing exactly what I was going through. But even after seeing these verses my mind was blinded from the fact that God was reaching out to me and I did not repent.

By the time I got out of the military in 2013 I was very depressed. I had failed to do everything I had initially set out to do. I had no desire to be in a relationship. I had no friends. I had nothing. I moved back in with my parents, planning on starting college the next semester. In the mean time I was alone, smoking weed and cigarettes heavily. Then one day someone left me a very hateful comment on Youtube. I wanted to reply with the verse that said 'Speak of the devil and he shall appear' so I went to a Bible website and searched for it. That saying is not in the Bible, but this is what I saw instead.

John 8:44

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

That is when I realized that all that time I was in the Navy, and even before I joined the Navy, I had been doing the desires of the devil. At that point I repented and asked God to forgive me of my sins. I know God heard me because He took away my addiction to cigarettes in that moment. From that time strange things started to happen that I still don't have an explanation for. It started with a set of Scripture that God allowed me to understand.

John 10:1-6

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them."

John 10:16

"And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd."

God put quite a few things on my heart regarding these verses. First, He allowed me to understand that verses 1-6 were describing people who were separated from God because they did not understand the parable. And verse 16 was describing people who had been united with God because they understood it. Second, October 16th (10-16) was only a few days away and He put on my heart that not only was it the verses He wanted me to understand, but something significant was going to happen on that day. Well, a few days later something very strange happened that led to me getting arrested and on October 16th I was in jail for the first time in my life. Even stranger things happened while I was in jail (I'm not going to talk about it because it is hard to believe.)

When I got out of jail about a week later I was baptized on that following Sunday. From that time I began to study God's Word, asking Him earnestly for understanding and little by little He has been giving it to me. Now, I am still struggling to find my place in this world. I tried to attend the church I originally left, but I no longer feel comfortable there. I have always had a hard time fitting in and it has gotten even harder in the years that followed my repentance. I learned very quickly that there are many things that Christians are divided over. Hopefully my testimony will let someone out there know that they aren't alone, especially if supernatural things are happening to them.

Now that you have read through my beliefs and my testimony I invite you to read through the Bible Studies and Parables Section of the website.  Thank you and may God bless you with a deeper understanding of the Word.
